At Edu-Change, we believe in the transformative power of education. Education is not only a catalyst for economic growth, innovation, and prosperity—it also reshapes mindsets and behaviours, fostering fairness, tolerance, and understanding within communities. By supporting the education of and about vulnerable and underserved communities, we are building a foundation for more inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate communities.

Through knowledge and empowerment, we can create a world where everyone, regardless of background, has an opportunity to contribute to and thrive within a fair and united society. Together, we are using education to create lasting change, one person at a time.

Education & Opportunity

For children and young people affected by poverty, displacement and conflict, education can be life changing. Yet millions continue to face barriers that prevent them from learning.

Edu-Change works to expand access to education and opportunity for disadvantaged and displaced young people in Afghanistan as well as in the UK.

From supporting educational initiatives to helping provide the basic infrastructure children need to learn, we turn our belief in the right to education into practical action. Our current work includes supporting the construction of a school for children in a remote and isolated community in central Afghanistan.

Whether helping a child enter a classroom in Afghanistan or bringing people from different backgrounds into conversation in the UK, our purpose is the same: to create opportunity, deepen understanding and empower people to become forces for positive change, peace and stronger and more cohesive communities.

Stories That Bring Us Together

We also believe lasting change begins when people understand one another.

Across Kent and the wider UK, Edu-Change brings people together through storytelling, literature and open dialogue, particularly in schools and colleges. By creating spaces where people can share experiences, listen to different perspectives and encounter lives beyond their own, we aim to challenge prejudice, build empathy and strengthen community cohesion.

Stories can cross boundaries that politics and arguments often cannot. They remind us of our shared humanity.

About the founder

Mir Rahimi

Mir Rahimi is Born in Afghanistan; he moved to the UK in 2001 as a child refugee and went on to earn a master’s degree in political theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2011.

He has worked with charities, NGOs, and the United Nations across multiple countries supporting displaced populations and has spoken at major global forums, including high-level United Nations conferences about the human cost of war and conflict around the world.

As the founder of Edu-Change, a UK-based charity, Mir empowers young people from displaced and disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed in education and become leaders of positive change, peace and development. He is also the author of Across Mountains, Land and Sea: One Boy’s Extraordinary Journey.
